From July 4 th to 8 th the first Modern Pentathlon World University Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary. Several dozen of athletes from 13 countries lined up for the competition. Anna Maliszewska, a student of SGH and member of AZS SGH, came in second in the individual event securing a silver medal.
The Championships were conducted in an exceptional format – in the academic formula the individual event are carried out without the horse riding. All the events took place at the Ludovika Campus of the National University of Public Service.
Our fellow student was gradually moving up the table. After swimming and fencing she was fifth. In the exiting race in the last event (the combined event of running and shooting) she managed to go up by 3 places and climbed the podium, having finished as runner-up, winning for Poland the first historical medal at the World University Championships in Modern Pentathlon. Elena Micheli from Italy and Sondos Aboubakr of Egypt took the remaining spots on the podium.
